Week 1: Survival Skills

We begin by creating an individual survival kit, we discuss the individual child’s strengths and challenges in an outdoor recreational situation. Like mountain biking with friends, playing at the local creek, making bush cubbies, camping with family, getting lost in the bush and more.

Week 2: Construction

We teach kids how to construct multiple styles of survival shelters, traps & tools. We share with them the most useful knots, materials they can use around them to make them withstand local weather conditions.

Week 3: Navigation

We take all the knowledge from the first two sessions in the series, take the kids to bushland in the Perth foothills and give them lessons in using a compass and topographic maps to plan our journey like where we will stop for morning tea, where to make a shelter, collect drinking water, where to find food.
